Open Rehearsals are FREE and begin Sunday, July 29, 2018 at 7:00pm, running almost daily through Friday, August 10 at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, 307 Church Street, downtown Santa Cruz.
You’re invited to discover what increasing numbers of Festival fans have already realized—Open Rehearsals are a dynamic precursor to the concerts themselves. As the community of conductors, musicians, and composers sculpt pieces for performances, you have the chance to watch the music come to life. Wondering what to expect at an Open Rehearsal? Simply enter the auditorium and select your favorite seat! The atmosphere is relaxed, you are free to come and go, but please endeavor to be as quiet as possible, even when the artists are simply talking to each other. The orchestra appreciates your support during these important working sessions!
A more detailed schedule will be available on our website calendar and posted at the Civic in mid July.
[10am-12:30pm]: July 31; Aug 1, 9, 10
[2:30-5pm]: July 30; Aug 2, 8, 10
[4-6:30pm]: Aug 1 (Conductors Workshop)
[7-9:30pm]: July 29; Aug 2, 7, 8
Rehearsal times and program order are subject to change without notice. Please note, food or drink is not allowed in the auditorium and if you are accompanied by young children, please endeavor to keep conversation to a minimum, out of respect for our hard-working artists! Thank you!
Hungry for more information about the music? In addition to this fascinating behind-the-scenes opportunity, the Festival offers talks by lecturers, guest artists, and composers in residence. Program books are free, available at the Civic during the first week of the Festival, and annotated program notes will be published online well ahead of performances. All talks are held at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, 307 Church Street, Downtown Santa Cruz, unless otherwise noted.
