Open Rehearsals are FREE and begin Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 7:00pm at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, 307 Church Street, downtown Santa Cruz.
You’re invited to discover what increasing numbers of Festival fans have already realized—Open Rehearsals are a dynamic precursor to the concerts themselves. As the community of conductors, musicians, and composers sculpt pieces for performances, you have the chance to watch the music come to life. Wondering what to expect at an Open Rehearsal? Simply enter the auditorium and find your favorite seat! The atmosphere is relaxed, you are free to come and go, but please wait for a break in the music to enter and exit the hall.
In addition to this fascinating behind-the-scenes opportunity, the Festival offers talks by lecturers, guest artists, and composers in residence. Program books are free, available at the Civic during the first week of the Festival, and Concert Program Notes will be published online well ahead of performances.
A detailed PDF of the rehearsal schedule may be downloaded in mid-July, and the schedule will be posted at the Civic Auditorium by the end of July. Rehearsal times and program order are subject to change without notice. Please note, no food or drink is not allowed in the auditorium and if you are accompanied by young children, please endeavor to keep conversation to a whisper, out of respect for our hard-working artists!
