Volunteer Opportunities
It takes a village and then some to produce the Cabrillo Festival each year. Local residents open their homes to host Festival Orchestra players, Santa Cruz County businesses donate their products and services, and community members generously give of their time to support the Festival’s special events and audience services. If you would like to volunteer for the Festival, here are our current opportunities:
Host A Musician:
Our most critical need! The Festival is in constant need of donated accommodations to comfortably house our orchestra members, esteemed composers, guest artists, and technical staff. Specifically, if you have a spare bedroom, guest house, or granny unit that you can offer for one to two weeks during the Festival, please contact us right away using the interest form provided here. Our Housing Coordinator will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Hosts are not expected to provide meals or transportation, just a clean, safe, and friendly home base while artists are here for the Festival. Housing an orchestra musician is reportedly one of the most rewarding aspects of the Festival experience!
Ushers:
Concert Ushers are the welcoming face of the Festival. While the time commitment is significant—ushers must commit to all orchestra concerts—ushering provides free access to concerts, and the true joy of supporting this treasure of our community. Friends are made, and ushers return year after year, under the warm and expert guidance of our House Manager.
Hospitality Events:
Do you enjoy engaging with our community of musicians, artists, staff, and audience? Join our Hospitality Volunteer corps to add fun and delight to the Festival experience for our many stakeholders. Opportunities range from engaging in special projects to connect our artists with local businesses and community experiences, to assisting in the preparation and serving of refreshments at various events for patrons, to providing staff support for marketing and mailing efforts.
To volunteer, please use the form provided, and a staff member will contact you very soon about opportunities available!
Thank you!
