We’re glad to welcome Alison (left) and Winnie (right) to the Cabrillo Festival community as our UCSC Humanities EXCEL Fellows for the 2026 season!
We’re grateful to partner with UC Santa Cruz Humanities EXCEL program on this fellowship and invite you to get to know Alison and Winnie.
Hello! We’re the 2026 Cabrillo Festival Interns serving as your Education Outreach Coordinator (Alison) and Community Engagement Coordinator (Winnie)! We are so excited to become part of the team and help to bring this Festival to life this summer. Using our experience as Literature majors at UCSC we hope to support the Festival’s community engagement and outreach efforts.
Alison – My interests in writing, reading, and listening to jazz music is a big part of why I’m so excited to be the Education Outreach Coordinator for CFCM! I’m currently a third-year literature and education major at UCSC and I greatly enjoy hearing about people’s personal experiences and perspectives, specifically drawing me towards this organization. I value opportunities that bring people together and create space for shared experiences and interpretation. I’m particularly excited to work with the Youth Ensemble and connect with people who are passionate about developing their talents in music. I hope to bring what I’ve learned through my education coursework to offer a fresh and thoughtful perspective to the program.
Winnie – As a second-year literature major at UCSC, I love to read and write. I have a special interest in journalism and adore writing in that style and reporting on what I see around me in a way that is thoughtful, accessible, and accurate. I’m so passionate about CFCM’s mission. Inclusivity is my ultimate goal for everything that I do. As the Community Engagement Coordinator, I hope to use my skills in order to help engage diverse audiences with CFCM’s and share with others the contemporary orchestral music world. I’m super excited to meet new people and to support promotional campaigns. I’m also really looking forward to learning more about, and creating new digital media content for our Festival!
