Opening Night: The End of Rain

Opening Night includes the west coast premiere of Jessie Montgomery's powerful Soul Force, and world premiere commissions from Gabriela Lena Frank and Scott Ordway. Both premieres reflect on the impact of drought and wildfire in California. Frank's Contested Eden centers the orchestra in this performance, and Ordway's multimedia work, The End of Rain, invites vocal octet Roomful of Teeth to give voice to words contributed by fire zone residents. ...
