It takes a village and then some to produce the Cabrillo Festival each year. Local residents open their homes to host Festival Orchestra players, Santa Cruz County businesses donate their products and services, and community members generously give of their time to support the Festival’s special events and audience services. Cabrillo Festival will follow CDC guidelines for Covid safety, and will require that all musicians, artists, audience members, staff, hosts and volunteers be vaccinated, boosted, and tested per public health agency recommendations. If you would like to volunteer for the Festival, here are our current opportunities:
Volunteer To Host A Festival Musician:
Our most critical need! The Festival is in constant need of donated accommodations to comfortably house our orchestra members, esteemed composers, guest artists, and technical staff. Specifically, if you have a spare bedroom, guest house, or granny unit that you can offer for one to two weeks during the Festival, please contact us right away using the interest form provided here. Our Housing Coordinator will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Hosts are not expected to provide meals or transportation, just a clean, safe, and friendly home base while artists are here for the Festival. Housing an orchestra musician is reportedly one of the most rewarding aspects of the Festival experience! See note above regarding Covid safety.
ON HIATUS THIS YEAR | Church Street Fair/Creativity Tent for Kids:
Held the first weekend of the Festival, during both days of the outdoor Church Street Fair. Creativity Tent Volunteers assist professional artists and attending families with music and art workshops (no music or art skills needed).
LIMITED AT THIS TIME | Hospitality Events:
Assist Staff in the preparation and serving of refreshments at various events for artists and patrons, held throughout the Festival season.
Concert Ushers are the welcoming face of the Festival. While the time commitment is significant—ushers must commit to all orchestra concerts—ushering provides free access to concerts, and the true joy of supporting this treasure of our community. Friends are made, and ushers return year after year, under the warm and expert guidance of House Manager Jennifah Chard. See note above regarding Covid safety.
To volunteer, please use the form provided, and a staff member will contact you very soon about opportunities available!
