A unique music experience for young adults (16-24)
Student Staff Ensemble Free Concert:
Saturday, August 13 at 2:30pm, Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium!
Cabrillo Festival’s Student Staff Program is dedicated to music education for young adults of all musical backgrounds and levels. This program is designed for the student who wants to have a profound musical experience: interaction with fabulous musicians, amazing composers, and the cutting-edge music for which the Cabrillo Festival is known.
In the weeks before and during the Festival, Music Director Marin Alsop, guest composers, and orchestra members will be available to discuss the dynamic new music presented at the Festival. Student Staffers can participate in stimulating workshops and master classes with orchestra members covering professional development and career guidance. For those interested, the Student Staff Ensemble provides invaluable experience in concert planning, preparation and performance.
Program highlights include: Free admission to most Cabrillo Festival performances, rehearsals, and events, a series of 3-5 Student Staff workshops; discussions with conductors, composers and musicians; an opportunity to perform, compose and/or conduct a piece for the Student Staff Ensemble; and a variety of fun Student Staff social events.
Program requirements: Musicians and non-musicians who are interested in a musical immersion experience. Participants must be 16-24 years old and attend high school or college, must attend Student Staff Program and usher orientation meetings and must usher a minimum of five designated performances.
If you would like to join the Student Staff, please use the provided interest form or call 831.426.6966. We’ll look forward to following up in the spring, when program recruitment begins!
