Since graduating from the Indiana University School of Music with a B.M. in Oboe/English Horn Performance, I freelanced in the Indianapolis area for 10yrs or so. I held positions with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra as well as the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. The NCO recorded Quiet City by Aaron Copland, featuring the English Horn and was reviewed quite favorably in Gramophone Magazine. After 10 years of freelancing, I accepted a one-year position as Assistant Principal Oboe/English Horn in the Florida Orchestra (where I initially met the Cabrillo Festival’s music librarian, Ella Fredrickson). Since it was only a short term position, I had to audition for another orchestra. One never knows where this will lead you, but I wanted to be where there was sunshine every day, big blue sky, and palm trees. I landed in Phoenix, Az., with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, holding the same position I had in the Florida Orchestra. I’ve been in Phoenix now for 17 years. Every summer, me and my chihuahua/rat “terrorist” (terrier) Pepe, look forward to travelling to Santa Cruz, for friends, challenging music, and cool weather!
