I started playing tuba in a public school music program when I was eight years old. I graduated from Northwestern University, where I had the marvelous experience of studying with Arnold Jacobs, famed tubist with the Chicago Symphony. Unfortunately, the tuba did not come into existence in time to be included in the Baroque and Classical repertoires. Even though I will never perform the music of Bach or Mozart, I still hope that I will gain some insight into their music before I depart this world.
